Kris Putnam-Walkerly founded Putnam Community Investment Consulting (Putnam) in 1999 after nearly a decade working as a consultant, grantmaker, evaluator, and project manager for nonprofits and foundations. Since establishing Putnam, Kris has partnered with over 25 philanthropic foundations and nonprofit organizations on projects that have generated more than $65 million in grants.
Prior to establishing Putnam, Kris worked as a grantmaker at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and an evaluator at the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Horizon Foundation and chairs the Membership Committee of the National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers. Kris also co-founded the Philanthropy Consultants Network.
Kris holds a master’s degree in social work from San Francisco State University and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and political science from Indiana University. In 2003, she completed the Ethics for Foundation Consultants training at the Institute for Global Ethics.
