Caroline has extensive experience developing evaluation methodologies and instruments to assess public health program delivery and outcomes and has evaluated state, local, and community-based coalitions and campaigns, especially regarding youth health programs/services. She has expertise in all facets of quantitative and qualitative evaluation design, implementation and analysis.
Prior to working with Putnam, Caroline was the Director of Strategic Planning for FCB Healthcare, a healthcare communications firm, where she developed patient and professional education programs. She designed and analyzed qualitative and quantitative research and applied behavioral science principles to programs for pharmaceutical industry clients including Amgen, Abbott, Glaxo Wellcome, and Merck.
Caroline was also on the research faculty of Stanford University School of Medicine's Center for Research in Disease Prevention. Her academic work includes large-scale studies of cardiovascular disease risk-reduction interventions and youth health promotion programs. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including the American Journal of Public Health, Annals of Epidemiology, and the Journal of Health Psychology. Additionally, she has authored chapters for numerous edited volumes on health behavior research including the 1996 Surgeon General's Report on Health. Caroline completed an NIH post-doctoral fellowship in Cardiovascular Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine.
