David works with foundations, individual donors, nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them increase their organizational and program effectiveness. He provides clients with expertise in philanthropic research and program design, community needs assessment, program planning and evaluation, strategic planning and fund development.
Prior to working with Putnam, David served as Director of Programs for the East Bay Community Foundation, where he oversaw the Foundation's competitive and donor-advised grants programs and initiatives on arts education, management assistance, environment, and health. While at the Foundation, he served on the board of directors of Grantmakers in the Arts and the Northern California Citizenship Project. He also co-chaired the National Service Taskforce of Northern California Grantmakers.
Before joining the East Bay Community Foundation, David was Program Director of La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley. He has extensive experience working with diverse stakeholders and speaks fluent Spanish. David has a degree in Environmental Studies from UC Berkeley.
